Monitoring and controlling the larvae cultivation bioprocess is now possible for the first time in the industry.
A large mass – tons of larvae and feed is mixed continuously by the rolling motion of the bioreactor drum. The mass is homogenous so that only a small number sensors is needed to monitor the growing conditions. The data is accurate and received in real-time.
Based on this information, the bioprocess can be controlled and guided so that the feed usage efficiency and growth time are optimized. This is not possible in conventional box cultivation systems as data collection and ways to intervene the bioprocess are lacking.
Good control of the bioprocess ensures high repeatability of produce. The yields are constant and higher than in conventional box cultivation systems where the outcome is variable from box to box and over time.
